nausea with Harvoni at week 4.
« on: November 12, 2014, 10:32:40 am »
anyone else on Harvoni experiencing nausea?       I can't think of what it could be from except the Harvoni.     Please....anyone.   any nausea?

At the 4th week my viral load will be tested and the virus will be gone my Dr. said.    They don't test the viral load until week 4 at my Drs office.  Only the other blood work to make sure everything is ok with how my body is doing with the Harvoni.   My 4th week blood test is Monday.

I am 1a......a chronic relapser from rib/ and both pegs for 48 weeks each time which is like death and both times the virus came back.    I pray this works.........I do worry about relapsing with the Hep. C virus.  Both times I was cleared and it came back on my last blood test at 9 mos.  So I do worry a little bit about that.      But mostly feeling positive and grateful for this new drug for us.

I Have just completed week two of Harvoni. I have not experienced any nausea, at least not yet. I also have done all the other interferons w/ ribo stuff(Awful). Hopefully your nausea is only temporary and will go away. The first few days I was taking it I felt  slightly queasy with a mild headache mid afternoon. I started drinking a lot of water during the day and it has helped. I make sure to eat breakfast lunch and dinner.  I do not get the queasiness and no headache anymore.

working on it.......that's wonderful that you have no headache or queasiness anymore!
I have 3 more weeks to go on Harvoni ( a little less) and have never gotten headaches.   But the nausea has been intense.  My hepatologist has said my side effects are not from the Harvoni (nausea and high liver enzymes) He feels something else is causing that.   Don't know what it could be.....but that's his feeling.   I had started an antidepressant which I'm now almost weaned off and am hoping that's what caused the nausea and elevated liver enzymes.

Just knowing I'm UNDETECTED is such A HUGE BOOST to my spirits!
So you'll get your first viral load test at week 4 is that correct?  I'm so hoping to hear this
great news from you too!!!

thank you for sharing!

Hi sunrise,
I felt exactly that same way. Walking the tightrope without a net! It felt like something was missing. But at the same time it felt good to be med free. Sounds like you're getting a little nervous. I know that feeling too. You're gonna win this one! See ya.

Hello, I am new to this forum but I started on Harvoni 4 weeks and 3 days ago, I have not been nauseated but I doe get a major headache and my hair is thinning out, my viral load was checked along with other things in the blood at 2 weeks, the viral load was at 87 it was at 1M300Th just 2 weeks prior, personally I think that's great.
About the HAIR... Am I the only one that has hair loss, I also feel lots of pain throughout my body, back pain, leg pain, pain in all the joints, but no sick feeling

Thegma.    Someone else just posted about hair loss.  I just read it a few seconds ago.  I had a lot of nausea but now that I'm off the zoloft (anti depressant) it's gone.  I started both at the same time pretty much and for me, that was a bad combo for my tummy.
I hurt ALOT!  but I don't know if it's from Hep C.   I'll figure all that out once I'm virus free.    Curing this virus is my top priority right now and maybe all the pains and aches will go away once the virus is gone.    Hoping hoping!     I am 60 so some I'm sure just come with age and years of high impact activities.

SUNRISE............You are off the meds right?     Sure hope you're feeling good today and I am seeing you beating this battle.    You too BadBrad!

wish nothing but the absolute best for each and everyone today

Good morning Warriors
Ho JillLynn. Yes today is last dose! I can't believe its here! Hopefully all goes well. I will pray everyday. Ots funny you talk about the zoloft like that. I tried it take it in 1993 and it made me sicker than a dog so I don't know it might be the medication is having a bad effect on you there are other antidepressants. Although I try to stay off of them as they don't help me. I hope you guys are feeling well today sorry about that hair loss thats weird I've never heard of that either on the arvoni.have a blessed day and I'll be thinking of you guys as I put those pills down the hatch... Hi Guys,

I did have hair loss but that's a symptom of cirrhosis not the treatment, it's been way better the past 4-6 weeks and hopefully it will continue to fill back in thick again. I started with super thick dark long hair and was a little freaked out. Thankfully it wasn't all that bad although it felt like it to me.

Sunrise - loving the new avatar and so excited for you, Please still come hang with us!

Hi Jill:  I haven't had any nausea, in fact I have had great improvement.  I am 1a and was diagnosed 10 years ago and have no idea how long or how I was infected.  I am on day 18 and am anxious for my first VL test at week 4.  Very minor negative side effects and you could check out my other posts to see what has been happening, if you are curious, but mainly I am sleeping much better, am dreaming, am happier and have much more energy.  Even though I feel much better I have no motivation to do much of anything, which is unlike me.  I chose not to do previous treatments as the cure rate was so low for 1a and that may be the reason this treatment is going so smoothly for me.  Be sure to drink lots of water.  That has helped me stay hydrated and it flushes the toxins out.  I drink at least a half a gallon or more a day and keep track to make sure.

Thegma: I do not have cirrhosis but am experiencing some hair loss and am sure it is the treatment.  It affects each person a bit differently.  At this point it is not a lot, but is noticeable so hopefully it doesn't escalate.  I am so grateful this treatment is available and is only 12 weeks and is giving the death sentence to Hep C.  A wonderful Christmas present.

Enjoy the holidays,

Katie

Good luck to you

Hi Katie.

So glad you are doing so well on this!  That is wonderful news!
Everyone thinks I'm crazy drinking so much water......at least "we" get it! (smile!)

Sunrise.... congrats on that last pill.  I'm totally going to be praying for you!
p.s. I don't like being on antidepressants either.....a weekend up north with my mom caused PTSD like symptoms..(it shocked me, but it truly happened)..I had to go back to therapy and deal with what happened.  I was blown away!   It's all smoothed for today, I learned a lot, and I'm most likely staying off the antidepressants and NOT taking any more getaways with my mom.........bless her heart!

Bless all our hearts

Thanks JillLynn
I give you so much credit for even going!  I'm not as good like that. I forgave my Mother, but cannot be in contact. Bad for my mental health which is paramount.  I, like you cannot tolerate anti dep. I just need a mild tranq. every so often when things get too chaotic.  Its time to relax enjoy and get better. I am praying right along with you sweetie.  Blessings.... Sunrise

I discovered that I just can't tolerate some foods, especially fried, a couple years ago.  So I am really paying attention to what I eat now.  I am only a week in on Harvoni, not too serious sides.
Yikes on the hair loss! I only have about 7 hairs on top of my head now! Okay, it just looks that way to me, but sure don't want to lose anymore!
Sipping water all day seems to help with nausea as well for me.

Barb...don't panic.  Seems hair loss doesn't affect everyone.  Welcome and I hope your treatment is as good as mine!  I am noticing many more positives than negatives and am looking forward to my blood work results.  4 week draw in 10 days.

Enjoy the holidays.  I am celebrating Harvoni!

I felt pretty nauseated the first couple of weeks, had very little appetite. Stayed away from rich foods, no fried anything. Made myself nibble throughout the day, but still lost quite a bit of weight-which was okay, I was overweight.
After I finished treatment, I still felt slightly off and not hungry for months. Just have started getting a normal appetite 6 mos. after finishing.
So eat simply, small meals, sip water all day long, and you will most likely start feeling better. And it does seem to get better as time goes on.

Kenaniah.. I found that drinking gatoraid type drinks really helped with the nausea, also my body felt that I had been run over by a truck, my Liver specialist gave the go ahead to take Tylenol so I took 1 a day and the pain in my body went away. One thing that did happen with me is that I developed a very bad sweet tooth and started having a craving for coffee (I had not drank Coffee in 22 years, I gave it up when I quit smoking) so now I've put on some poundage , have thinner hair and have coffee in the morning, but am Hep C free, I am also a bit confused at times and a bit more forgetful. But that could be caused from age.
Oh and I finished my Harvoni treatment Feb 2015!
Prayers to all that are doing the Harvoni.
