Hepatitis C Cure = Normal Lifespan

People who have hepatitis C virus (HCV) + advanced liver fibrosis or cirrhosis and are cured of the virus are just as likely to experience a normal lifespan than people who were never infected.

These results come from a retrospective JAMA study among people who started treatment between 1993 and 2003. Wonder how new treatments will size up...

Remember, your liver is the only organ that can heal itself and regenerate.  If you stop the Cirrosis and clear the virus, your liver should eventually repair itself.  And remember:  ALCOHOL IS LIKE GASSOLENE ON A FIRE.  Help your liver out!

Things looking up some will be back in the USA in 8 weeks the doctors will file app for Harvoni Im stage 4 so its still a long fight from here but its a great start to what has been done here in Australia. I was stage 1 3 yrs ago and no treatments given. Get that boat ready Bubba here we goooo!!!!

I am really really glad to hear this!!
My doctor told me that my liver will not likely repair itself when I asked this question
but the Hep C cure will stop any further damage hopefully.
Can I get on the boat too? 8)

There's a National Institutes of Health study cited on a Virginia veterans site that I ran into that states there can be restorative healing up to a point depending on the level of damage. I have a theory that the increased appetite and weight gain a lot of us experiencing is linked to our livers requiring more energy to start that healing once Harvoni knocks down the virus. Please prove me wrong if you can.

Curious about what the study would say for someone who was diagnosed with cirrhosis for several years who has portal hypertension.
