EOT 15 Weeks
« on: August 18, 2016, 02:15:27 pm »
I only posted on here a few times usually when I was freaked out.  I did read the forums to try and get a better understanding of my treatment and the disease.

I was on a 24 weeks treatment regimen with Harvoni, my genotype was 1A, and my Fibroscan score was 14 or 16 (have to check) done last September. I did not start treatment until November of 2015.

I did not clear the Virus in the first 4 weeks on treatment. My 4 week blood test showed 13.  That actually freaked me out, but having read the forum I saw many others who cleared the virus even after being positive at the EOT.

I was due to get my HCV RNA test 4 weeks ago, but did not because I was about to go on a business trip and did not want to find out bad news before I left. I was convinced I had relapsed.

Results came in today and  the pesky little devil is gone.
I want to thank everyone who game me support and advice.  I remember one person in particular I think her name is Lynn K.  Thank you Lynn God Bless you!

I think this disease is going to be wiped out.  The new triple therapy from Gilead that is in trials now is curing people who failed DAA's included NS5A's.

Great forum  :)

Congrats, Steve!!!!!!  Glad those of us who tested detected at EOT and even later, but  eventually cleared by 12 wks post, gave hope and promise to you.  Its one of the reasons testing prior to that, barring unusual or exceptional circumstances is often not done; creates undo stress and anxiety, to no positive end.

Thing is about the not clearing the virus at 4 weeks thing I did read somewhere that a study did notice higher relapse rates in patients with Compensated Cirrhosis who don't clear the virus early, and that extending treatment remedied that. I realize some don't have the choice and have to get the 12 weeks without even Ribavirin  I would not have been comfortable with that.  I think for Compensated Cirrhosis regardless of prior treatment history patients should have the option of adding at least Ribavirin to the treatment plan if the insurance company does not want to pay for 24 weeks.

I think in the near future the new drugs in the pipeline are going to remedy all of this noise anyway...

Congrats Steve - fantastic news.  I hope HCV becomes a thing of the past - all over the world. How marvellous that would be.

Sometimes I forget that I no longer have hep c and the realisation of my freedom from the virus  comes as a delightful recollection. May all your days be long and filled with the joy of no longer fighting the dragon.
