My mother works at a hospital and donated blood for the very first time about 3 months ago. She got a letter in the mail saying she tested positive for hep c. My mother has NEVER done a drug in her life and the doctor has since said that she has had hep c for 30 years. She had a blood transfusion back in 1989, I think it was. Before blood was screened before given to a patient. I was born via c-section two years after she had the blood transfusion. My question is, could I have hep c also because of this? The type that she has is treatable and can be cured.

The good news is, as you said, Hep C is treatable. The other good news is that you most likely did not contract it, but you should go get a blood test and find out for sure. Good luck, and let us know. -jack
