Day 17 of Viekira Pak
« on: May 15, 2016, 12:05:45 pm »
I am on day 17 of the Viekira Pak and  I have had no discernible side-effects (I usually have nausea with almost medication).  My issues have been more related to being off of my normal medications: Extreme joint pain since I am off my Humira and my Voltaren for pain (Psoriatic Arthritis), and hot flashes since I am off my Climera Pro.  I stopped taking my Prilosec before starting so I could determine what would help the most, and have ended up eating dinner much earlier, and taking Pepto Pismo.  It sounds like some of the side effects may be almost cumulative and worsen during the course of treatment though?  My other concern is that I may end up taking Prednisone to manage my joint pain, which I really want to avoid.

I am in my 6th week of treatment and have suffered from nausea.  I also have no energy and am feeling tired all the time.  I have Genotype 1 and took Harvoni last year for 8 weeks.  The insurance co. would not let me take it for the additional 4 weeks and, as a result, I was not cured.  The doctor wanted me to tried Viekara Pak to see if it would work.  Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi JS,

Sorry to hear that the Harvoni failed you.  I finished my 8 week treatment about 3 weeks ago and I am just a tad nervous about the end result.  I sure would have loved to continue but my insurance would not allow it.  I don't do well swallowing pills so I know I couldn't handle the Viekira Pak for that reason alone.  I hope you do well next time around and it does the trick so you also can join the "cured" club.  Brie
