Title: Viral Load Count at 4 weeks (Harvoni)
Post by: Sue21165 on October 21, 2015, 06:50:53 pm
Well, this is week 5 for me on Harvoni.  I heard from my doctor's office today about my viral load count.  The blood test was performed on the 15th of this month.  Anyway, my beginning viral load count was 2.3 million and I'm now at 15.  Initially when I got the news I was excited about it, but the more I think about that, the less I am happy about it.  I don't understand why, after the drug "eating" so many of the viruses, why 15 of them would remain?  It doesn't make any sense to me.  My doctor said that most people on Harvoni are undetectable at week 4 and yet I'm not.  I do know that since I have cirrhosis as well, the hepatitis can be harder to cure, but I was so hoping to be undetectable.  I'm very disappointed and even angry after hearing the test results.  I know it's only week 5 out of 12, but still, I'm not happy.   :(   >:(

Sue, its very discouraging to get results which arent Undetectable.. However, myself as well as several others were detected throughout treatment and even several weeks after... And then went on to become Undetectable at the most important milestone, 12 wks post treatment.  Look at my signature below for the rocky road some of us went on.

It is way too early for you to stress out over this; its one of the reasons doctors often frown on on-treatment testing...... Remember, the only one that counts is the one at 12 wks post treatment, the major SVR check.
