Turtle's Solvaldi/Velpatasvir/GS-9857 8 Week DS Adventure!
« on: April 08, 2016, 06:50:10 pm »
So after a number of denials from both Anthem BC and Blue Shield in CA for pretty much all of the Gilead drugs as well as Abbvie, My hepatologist sent me to get a  fibroscan done and based on the results the provider who did the fibroscan invited me into the open label sof/vel 12 weeks vs sof/vel/GS-9857 8 week study. I began treatment 2 days ago on the triple combo/8 week arm. So far I feel fine, the only thing I have noticed is that I have slept better the past 2 nights then I have in quite some time.

Ironically the day I began treatment I got a letter from Blue Shield notifying me that my appeal had been reviewed and that I was approved for Viekira Pak.....

I will post updates of my progress and will add my stats to my sig.

So I have an update. Been on treatment for 20 days so far. No issues, no side effects at all.

My baseline viral load on 4/6/16 was 1,630,000 copies. ALT 63  AST 40

Week one viral load down to 22 copies. ALT 26  AST  21
Week two ALT  16   AST  17. Will have VL result in a few days.

So at this point, I am thrilled, hopeful, and grateful, and wish success to all others on treatment and/or trying to get treatment (don't give up!).

Week 2 viral load: Undetected! w00t!

On treatment for 24 days (out of 56) as of today. Continue to have no side effects. Next study visit is week 4 on Tuesday 5/3/16.

The study center I am at is Ruane Medical (http://www.ruanemedical.com/) in Los Angeles (near Olympia Medical Center). If you are looking to get into a study in this area - I would highly recommend them. I used to be a Clinical Research Coordinator myself for 10 years and in my opinion these guys are great and they have a lot of studies - mostly phase 3.

Welcome Dormat! And don't give up! The cure is finally here, and one way or another you will be able to get it. Do you know your genotype and fibrosis stage?

kim :)
