Title: To Peg or not to Peg?
Post by: tkflex36 on October 29, 2014, 11:00:55 am
So I guess this title sounds really crazy but hopefully everyone will understand and I can get some good feedback. First a bit of background, I'm 33 have had hep c for at least 15 years and am TX naive. I've wanted TX for a while but was told to wait for the better meds, well the better meds are here. My biopsy about 5 years ago showed stage 1, bloodtest done last week showed F3 according to fibrosure test. VL was 51,000 but activity score was .77 or very active. I am a genotype 3A with the IL28b-CC variant. I'm told they want to treat me with the S/R combo for 24 weeks, but knowing I am a CC I was wondering if 12 weeks of S/R/Peg would give me a better shot at a cure, beings that CC's have a better response to peg, and looks like from what I have read that being a CC is not much of a help with the New meds. I go to my GI specialist tomorrow afternoon and would really like to nail down a course of TX. I had a ultrasound today that I don't yet know the results of. Idk I'm just really freaked out about the bloodtest results I got last week ALT of 150 AST OF 120, most everything else within range. I would really like to hear others experience especially if they are a geno 3 with CC. Besides the hepC I am in really good health, not over weight, quit smoking, not engaged in any risk taking behavior. Thank you in advance for any feedback!
