Did anyone here go thru Abb-Vie treatment?
I enrolled in clinical trial in 2013.
This was my protocol: for 12 weeks.
dose twice a day. in morning, take all five:
ABT-450/r, a protease inhibitor
taken with ritonavir;
the NS5A inhibitor ABT-267;
the non-nucleoside polymerase inhibitor ABT-333;
and ribavirin ( as placebo )
in evening, just ritonavir & ribavirin
Immeasurably good news: it was successful, and I hear no one has relapsed.
The reason I ask:
I developed acid reflux during the trial.
At the time, I was prescribed Omeprazole,
(a PPD), which was effective. A while after the trial,
it was no longer effective. General Practitioner
prescribed Famatdine, which didn't work. Prilosec
was effective while I took it, but box says don't take
for four months after.
Actually, I've developed a suite of symptoms which may or may not be related to the acid reflux :
After 8 months, the dizziness and ravenous hunger have subsided; remaining still are constipation, the acid reflux, heartburn, and nausea, to varying degrees. The latter sometimes precludes ability to work until it goes away. I also awaken with stomach pain, usually one or both sides lateral to nave, sometimes under sternum.
Still have (for me) errratic weight swings (6 lbs).
I've seen an endocrinologist, 2 gastroenterologists, my hepatologist, and my GP, and all I've found out ( via a endoscopy ) is that I've developed low-grade esophagitis, and beginning-stage ulcer near duodenum.
As I flail around in the dark, for diagnosing all my symptoms, and treating them, I'm going back to the first symptom -- acid reflux ( GERD ) which manifested during the clinical trial -- and presenting this to the forum in case anyone has had any similar situation. Thank you.
Breathing in, I heal myself.
Breathing out, I heal others.
May all beings be well.
