Savaldi treatment
« on: May 17, 2015, 11:17:06 pm »
Last year I did 12 wks of savaldi treatment only to test positive after treatment. So my dr decided to have me try it again for 24 wks and I'm currently in my 18 wk and feel real sick all the time. I work 55 hrs a week as a welder and it's like I'm drained and sick all the time. The Medican didn't affect me this bad last time and I was wondering if anyone took the treatment twice and found success ??

Hi Taylor. So sorry to hear you are having a rough go of it! Are you on Sovaldi + Ribavirin? Or just Sovaldi and nothing else? A lot of people are put on Ribavirin with their Sovaldi, for more effectiveness. And the Ribavirin could certainly cause you problems like you describe after that length of time because it does induce anemia, and there is not a lot you can do about that.

But Sovaldi by itself, without Ribavirin, I don't really know. Most people here find that drinking lots of water every day helps to reduce most types of side effects. I am drinking 64 oz (8 glasses) of water a day while on treatment.

Also, do you know what Genotype of the virus you are?

Good luck. It sounds rough, but you only have six more weeks. Will be worth it to get cured. :)

best,
kim
