Just 9 Percent of Americans With Hep C Have Been Cured

A new PLOS ONE meta-analysis of 10 journal articles published between 2003 and 2013 focusing on hepatitis C diagnosis rates, access to care and hep C treatment across the U.S. was recently published.
Here are the latest stats on the HCV epidemic:
-An estimated 3.5 million people in the United States are living with hep C. -50 percent (1.7 million) are aware of their infection. -43 percent (1.5 million) have access to care. -27 percent (950,000) have received liver fibrosis staging. -17 percent (580,000) have undergone treatment. -9 percent (330,000) have been cured.
