Hello All, I just started my treatment tonight. Been doing a lot of reading about everyone's experiences and I plan to be a active forum user through my 12 week treatment.
Wish me luck!
-
Welcome Jeffry, and good luck! :)
I hit my halfway point today - end of Week 6 out of 12. No significant problems so far.

Thank you kim no significant problems is encouraging :)

Most of the time I am not even aware I am taking any drugs - and I've got Ribavirin in the mix with Harvoni. The Riba-anemia is starting to reduce my stamina. But I can't say I feel badly in any way. Without the Riba, your journey will likely be a good one. Hope you have similarly smooth sailing, Jeffry. :)

4 doses remaining out of 84 total and haven't had any notable side effects outside of elevated blood pressure and a little fatigue. I actually feel better than I have in years.
Best wishes on the ride.

Hi all and Jeffry!
Congrats on starting treatment. Best of luck and I hope you have a smooth easy ride with a fantastic outcome. Remember to enjoy the journey!
Bit of a long time lurker/first time poster - Jeffry's post brought me out of the shadows. As Jeffry's mentioned - been reading others experiences and this forum has been a wonderful resource!!
Personally, still waiting on insurance for final approval and pharmacy setup - but hope to begin treatment soon. (Will save my story for another post)
Peace!

Hello Jeffery and welcome to the forum. I took first dose on June 13th and so far I really do not feel like I am taking any meds. I am sure we all react differently. Best of luck to you. Feel free to PM me as we will be going through this just 2 days apart.

Thank you all for the encouragement.
Day one is in the bag! Slept fine and felt good today. some slight foggy feeling or almost like fever symptoms but nothing I can't deal with.
-
Day two and I feels perfectly normal, no side effects at all. Feeling very optimistic about this and hope it works!
-
NNTR feel fine with no side effects to speak of. had leg cramps during the nght the first couple of days but that seems to be over. either way i can deal with it.
-
Good Luck and good health! Drink lots of water. Just when you think that's enough, have another glass perhaps with a squeeze of lemon! It will definitely help you with any sides. Tea counts too!
I have 10 wks left.
-
Corey thanks for the response. I'm going to start drinking tea today. I'm drinking over a gallon of H2o with lemon every day
-
Water - That sounds good. When I tried the Incivek treatment that had a good rule of thumb. Take half your weight in ounces and drink that much water. If you weigh 120 lbs, for instance, drink 60 ounces of water over the day.
This might be a little overboard for Harvoni but it is a good answer to the question "How much is a lot of water?"
If you ever run into a nausea issue, I like lemon ginger tea....or mint tea

Jeffry, if you find yourself experiencing muscle cramps (particularly foot and leg), that could easily be from washing out (peeing out) too much potassium and magnesium from all the water-drinking (and tea drinking). I upped my dietary intake of magnesium and potassium foods, and my foot cramps that I had for 2 days disappeared immediately and have not returned. Dark leafy greens, brown rice, pumpkin seeds, brazil nuts, bananas, avocados - all good sources.
Best to you,
kim :)

KiminTheForest do you take supplements?

KiminTheForest do you take supplements?
Hi Jeffry. No I don't. I am not a supplement person. But I know some people here are taking various supplements, including magnesium during treatment specifically because they are drinking so much water and (potentially) washing out magnesium.

im ok just not used to getting headaches. feel fine today

This may be off the subject but I have psoriasis. I have been on Harvoni for 4 wks and my psoriasis has cleared. Was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
-
Hi all I'm Faye new to your posts. I have the med. in hand just trying to decide when to start the treatment. I'm worried about the headaches as I suffer from chronic migraines. I keep telling my self it's only 12 weeks but I could have a headache for 12 weeks! Any thoughts???
-
Drink lots of water. I learned this from this forum before I started treatment and it really helps. lots of folks on here swear by it. When you think you have had enough- drink some more. Best wishes.
-
Thanks for the reply. Will start on the water today. Meeting with my Dr. Next week and want to have a list of questions ready so I'm prepared to get all the info I need to start this treatment. Just apprehensive about starting I have so much going on in my life right now. Worry about being fatigued and headaches. I don't have much time to be down. I hope that doesn't sound petty but it's my life.
-
Hi Faye,
The majority of people on Harvoni are not experiencing significant side effects. I'd try not to ruminate too much as the anxiety will bring on a whole set of other issues.
I carried on with my life during 12 weeks just fine with no noticeable side effects. Actually felt great while on treatment.
Just take that first pill with confidence and have a positive frame of mind. You'll be fine and you'll wonder why you were so apprehensive to begin.
Best wishes!

Thanks that's what I needed to hear.
