Title: 1st Day PT
Post by: Butterflykisses on October 12, 2015, 01:12:24 pm
Wow, can't believe today is day 1 pt.  So nervous and excited to know my eot 12 wk labs and of course the BIG one, 12 weeks pt.  Yesterday I was filled with so much energy, went shopping all day, made a wonderful dinner, my husband and I were dancing around to our favorite music celebrating my official last day of treatment.  Not sure if I could have gone through this w/o his love and support.

I looked at my empty Harvoni bottle this am knowing how blessed I am to have had a chance to take this miracle drug, praying to rid the evil demon that has been hanging over me like a black cloud.  My sides have been minimal compared to others.  I have had a skin rash the entire time on treatment, a bit of dizziness, and neck and joint pain that has somewhat subsided.  My thyroid levels have been another issue, I am running a bit hyper, meds have been adjusted so we shall see.   Feeling a little jittery today, slight heart palpitations, maybe Harvoi w/d?   The fun never ends.   Maybe a good nights rest will happen soon.

Question for the Ladies, Can you Hi-light and Color your Hair soon after treatment?

Best of luck to EVERYONE on this journey.  I have read many of your posts, you have made me laugh and made me cry, so many of use going through this treatment, god bless.

I get eot labs drawn on Wed, will post results as they become available.

Congratulations! Now the hard part of waiting begins. By all means change your hair color. Get nasty with someone who deserves it. Eat ice cream ever day for a week. DO WHAT EVER it takes to let off steam is what I say.

All the very best

Congrats Butterfly!  I'm two weeks post now... hard to believe!
Feeling good too!

I too had the hair color question.  I used hair color and highlights (same as I have done for decades) while I was on Harvoni and scalp broke out in a rash.  Wasn't painful but scary.  I think this drug has a half life and is mostly out of our system by two weeks.  So, that's my plan now that I'm two weeks - to color my hair soon!

Funny you mentioned heart palpitations , I had that for about a week post and it went away.  I had a bug to so hard to tell what was what.  Slightly light-headed, other than that, everything is better for me.

My plan is to not focus too much on the waiting but go ahead and live as much as I can!

Good luck to you!

Thank you - Kim, ByebyeC, Eric, Bree.

Eric you are too funny!  I LOVE Ice Cream, my favorite.  You are so right, the waiting is the hardest part.   My 12 week EOT labs will not happen until late next week,  very disappointing, the Dr put the order in for my labs to be drawn after 10/19, my EOT was 10/11.  The only good thing is I will see the results before I go to the Dr in Nov for my fu appt.

Bree, I called my Dr's office today, I asked about getting my hair colored soon after treatment.  Apparently no one has ever asked that question, Really???  The nurse had to ask the Dr, they called back and said it will be fine.  Will keep y'all posted on the outcome.  I have an event this weekend, I have to cover the rash on my neck and chest, thank goodness for all the beautiful scarves out this fall season, lol!

I slept a full 7 hours last night, first time that has happened in weeks.

Good luck to all.

Hello Butterflykisses,
Not a lady but I can share some hair info with you. Have your hairdresser do a test patch on the back of your head where if something goes wrong it won't show. My sister's hairdresser did this when she had finished chemo. They pulled her hair up and did it along the nape of her neck. Her hair dresser does this for all her clients who have been on chemical treatments.

Hey Bucky & Willie G,

Thank you both so much for taking the time to reach out, means a lot!  I'm kind of a newbie here.  We all have been through so much before, during and post tx.

Stay positive, wishing you much Happiness and Good Health.  Keep on Dancing my Friends!

I told my dermatologist about the scalp rash after using a hair color (which had never happened before with decades of use) and he told me to do a test patch before I used it again.  I was thinking I would do the color anyway... but maybe I should try the patch test first.

WHAT!!!  Keep the gray roots...Nooooooo.  I'm 6 weeks into treatment with no sides.  I was going to make an appointment to have my hair colored as I have a bunch of Holiday art shows coming up and Of course I must look good ;)  My scan says I have cirrhosis but my LFTS are now good and I'm very careful about what I put into my body but when it comes to vanity...well it makes me feel good to look good and thats important...feeling good I mean.  I guess a test patch would be a important step.  Happy I read this post.
I have a very positive attitude about beating this virus and turning liver around but I must be cautious...Hmmmmm grey hair hmmm...nope, just can't imagine..LOL

Hey Coastal Girl,

Best of luck to you on the Harvoni train.  Great to hear you are doing well w/o major sides.

I don't have gray hair, but was way over due for some highlights.  Saw my stylist this week, everything turned out just fine.  If anything it made me feel better, lifted my spirits.  Go for it, but try the patch test first, I did
