Harvoni delivered - Bottle was extremely HOT
« on: July 14, 2015, 02:04:00 pm »
My second bottle arrived today by UPS.  I opened the package within minutes of its arrival and the bottle was extremely hot. I am in Florida - it was at least 95 degrees this morning.  I don't know how long the package sat inside the unair conditioned UPS truck but I am sure it is well over 110 degrees in the truck.  I called the pharmacy who then called Gilead who says the medication can be stored up to 45 days in temps up to 110 degrees and that the medication is fine.  I am afraid they are just saying that so they don't have to send another $36,000 bottle.  I am freaked out.   :o

Id believe that response from Gilead; I dont think theyre going to lie to you about that.  Im sure they have storage specs for most of their meds.

Thanks DS, I really hope so!  It just adds another layer of worry, though.  Now if I don't clear the virus it will always be in the back of  head that the heat ruined the effectiveness of the pills!  I just want everything to go perfectly!  This waiting and not knowing sure plays games with your head!  It's going to be fine, I know.  I just gotta keep on staying positive! Thanks for listening  ;D

Trish.. Calm down, take a deep breath; youre on the SVR train.. Not to worry..  A while ago, somebody here posted that horror of horrors, the underside of the cap on their bottle appeared 'dark'.   Well guess what.. Theyre All dark...  Not a problem... Look on the bright side... Your liver is scored stage 0-1 and its been consistently that from 2004 showing very little if any progression.  I dont know how long youre being treated, but be it 8 wks or 12, odds are very strong youll reach SVR. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.. Youre in the home stretch!

Hi Trish!
I read you post this morning and I too am waiting to get my meds delivered by FEDEX tomorrow. They were shipped out Monday from Florida. It has been warm here (100+) and I started to get nervous too. Called the Pharmacy in Fla. and they said would be ok - they ship all over the country every day. Had Doctor appt this afternoon and when I mentioned concern to me he laughed and told me not to worry. The pharmacy knows how to ship meds!
Go with what Dragonslayer said and take a deep breath! We are going to be just fine and on our way to healing!!!!
   Peace and blessings! ~ Robin

Thanks Redbird!  I am glad to hear your doctor say that!  I know that little voice in my head is a nut job sometimes!  I wish I could get her to just calm down and shut up!! LOL!!  The thing is after I got the package I read a post on another forum where the person was freaked out because Fed Ex delivered her package with ... get this... an ice pack!  LOL!  She was worried because her meds were too cold, so I got to looking at the temperature stuff on the insert and it says it should be store at no warmer than 86 degrees so the little voice in my head started doing the oh $h.t worry dance about the meds being too hot!  LOL!!  Goldie Locks and three bears!  So, if your package comes in tomorrow with an ice pack... no worries... LOL!!
