C-SWIFT Trial: Eight weeks of Merck’s new fixed-dose combination tablet, grazoprevir/elbasvir, plus Gilead Sciences’ Sovaldi (sofosbuvir) cured high rates of people with genotype 1 or 3 of hepatitis C in a small trial:

A brief overview: Among non-cirrhotic people with genotype 1 of HCV, 33% were cured with *4 weeks* of treatment, as did 87% of those treated for 6 weeks. Among people with cirrhosis, 80% were cured in 6 weeks, as were 94% after 8 weeks.

Results for genotype 3’s were also great, with 93-100 percent cures in 8-12 weeks of treatment for those without cirrhosis, and 91 percent for those with cirrhosis.
