Title: Sovaldi/riba/interferon recovery

I did the sovaldi/ribavirin/interferon treatment in February of 2014.  It was very rough on me and nearly killed me, so I had to quit treatment after 4 weeks of the 12 week treatment. My hep c1a is undetectablenow so I know the treatment works.  I never tought I would ever get my strength back.  It has been 17 months now and finally I am starting to feel like my normal self.  A year is the average time it takes for your body to heal and your liver to regenerate itself.  I am 67 years old and my liver was at stage 2 fibrosis so I am sure my age had a lot to do with my recovery taking so long. I think the ribavirin and interferon was what was wracking my body with pain and agony.  It was tough but I am glad Hep C1a is gone.  C1a is the most difficult kind to treat and that is why I had to do both the ribavirin and interferon.  It will depend on what genotype you have as to what treatment will include.  JUST HANG ON.  You will get better.

Congrats Jackieblu2,

I did the same treatment and it was no walk in the park. I was undetected at week 2 and have been virus free since February 2014.

I have an appointment with my GI in October and a final post-treatment 1-1/2 year viral load test. I'll be clear and my GI will cut me free!

 :) I am so happy for you too.  I was walking around with hep c1a for apparently 20 years due to having to receive blood products in 1986. I never went to the doctor because I had no insurance until I turned 62 and I was shocked to find out that I had hep c. But it answered the question as to why I was too tired to do anything. It is wonderful to feel like I am getting healthy again.

I'm so glad to hear this and that your quality of life is improving. I had HCV for about 35 years and never thought I could be cured!

Wow!!! 35 years!! Cures have come along way.  There is hope for so many others now.
