Physicians increasingly argue that the best choice is to get rid of hepatitis C right away. But your insurance company may not agree. So, in light of new treatments, how risky is it to wait for treatment?

Interesting article. For those of us with only moderate liver issues who've been denied treatment by insurers because of our status all the questions addressed (safety of new treatment regimes, danger presented by further delays in treatment being the central matters) are difficult things to balance. The author mentions the matter of long-term side effects which could potentially present themselves in patients only years after the new treatments have been prescribed. I'm tempted to wait myself after being denied. Difficult to be sure whether a determined appeal is the better and safer course.

Genotype 1a, treatment naive till 8/6/15 when Harvoni treatment was provided through Gilead's Support Path after health insurer (HMSA) denied Harvoni treatment and appeal due to moderate F1/F2 liver status. Sides very mild, virus "undetectable" at 28 days.
