Title: ALT elevated
Post by: hopefulAries on October 09, 2014, 04:01:07 pm
I completed my Sovaldi/Olysio combo last Thursday. On Monday, had my labs drawn. My ALT was 152.
What does that mean? Dr says not to worry. Easier said than done.

I am the queen of not worrying and telling others not to worry, because worrying doesn't help a thing. However, unless you were drinking the day before the test, this may be an indication of the virus returning (assuming your ALT was normal during treatment.) Time will tell, in the meantime, hold fast to this truth: If the results come back detectable, you did not waste your time - your liver got a reprieve from the constant assault of HCV. You did 12 weeks of treatment, correct? With new drug coming out tomorrow, you have options! Don't ever give up.

Hi Lucinda,
My pre-treatment ALT and during treatment were normal. There  was once when my enzymes were slightly elevated during treatment. I'm not a drinker, so that counts that out. I pray that nasty virus isn't returning. Hope its just my body acting up.

I would request a new lab order and do a complete liver panel that will show you all aspects of your liver. It could have been a mistake...without knowing the other results for AST and bilirubin etc. it is hard to identify what this spike is about...If everything else was normal than ...maybe it is good idea to have a viral load and repeat of liver tests.
