Title: Should Injection Drug Users Get Hep C Treatment?
Post by: Hep Editors on June 29, 2015, 02:18:48 pm
The main argument against this is that people who inject drugs are likely to re-infect themselves with HCV post-cure.

However, two new studies, conducted in Norway and Canada seem to go against the grain of this common perception. Each study showed that re-infection rates among IDUs are relatively low.

However, two other factors were significantly associated with reinfection: a lack of stable housing and HIV/HCV co-infection.

This is a debate and makes you think of those addicted and what types of side affects mixed with the hepc medicines will they be dealing with. But, really not understanding the restrictions that addicts would have to endure and follow strictly with the interactions of the hepc meds and what kind of drugs themselves are dealing with. First, I would think they would number one go to a rehab to find themselves again, and hope that they can conquer and willing to be drug free and they're next step would be the hepc meds. Because, their addictions while on hepc meds would just be defeating the purpose. It sure won't be easy what's ever for them they need help in the rehab first working with medical inclined resources. Let's have hope for all too.
