65 years old HCV Gen Type 1
Contracted HCV in Early 1970s
Interferon 2001 not cleared
PEG Interferon with RBV 2003 not cleared
Jan-Apr 2015 12 week Harvoni and RBV
4 weeks clear (UND)
8 weeks clear (UND)
12 weeks clear (UND)
Tomorrow (7-28-15) is my 12 week follow up at VA hospital.
I will post my status by the end of the week.
I would welcome any information comments or questions.
I have been trying to find statistics for for people like me that have been clear (UND) at 12 weeks

I believe that your chances of clearing with an undetectable viral load at week 12 are the same as they were when you started the drug. In other words, that is not the point in which prediction is made. However, if you had a viral load done 4 weeks after treatment was completed, and it was undetectable, then with GT1 you are nearly certain to have an SVR.
All speculating aside, you will know soon. Hope this helps.

lporterrn,
I had 3 viral measurements done during my 12 week Harvoni/RBV treatment. One at 4,8 and 12 weeks. Tomorrow will be my first follow up after treatment. (12 weeks after completion of the program)
I do not know if I am a GT1 or 1A. I will ask that question tomorrow.
Thanks for the reply.

Hi Dale
I probably have had hep c since 1978. I treated with interferon monotherapy in about 1995. Later I did 2 rounds with interferon ribavirin null responder. I was diagnosed with cirrhosis in Jan 2008. Treated last year with Sovaldi and Olysio for 12 weeks I was not detected on treatment and EOT but had relapsed when tested 12 weeks post.
I started 24 weeks of Harvoni in November to which was later added ribavirin so 15 weeks of ribavirin to go with the 24 weeks of Harvoni.
I was still not detected at 4 weeks post treatment in June.
I had my 12 week post blood draw today 7/27/15 and also hope to know if it worked by the end of this week.
Good luck to you I will be looking for your post

Lynne and Mel! What wonderful news - I'm so happy for you both!!!!!
This is such a boost to us all to see your reward for hanging in there and literally beating the c#@$! out of our common monster! I love you guys and am so happy for you :)
Sorry I haven't checked in for a while now, I've had a few issues that made me concerned that I might have relapsed, thank God that turned out not to be the case and my Ultrasound 7/27 came back NORMAL, no fatty liver, no fibrosis, etc - ALL NORMAL. Last lab done for my annual physical was the best it's been in a long time - everything within normal limits except AST Plasma which is 41 (none of my docs find that a concern). However,(after many tests, biopsies, an upper endoscopy) I am now taking meds for a diagnosis of mild gastric reflux. No one will admit or confirm but I suspect this is a result of taking the Harvoni. So September, possibly October, will be my tests for SVR 12.
Keep up the good work and positive attitudes - giving charge this to myself as well ;) Love you guys! ....Islandgirl

Hey dale, I'm also 65 and probably got Type2 in the Army, from airgun shots or blood exposure in VietNam. I've been going through the VA and to begin with they wouldn't administer the new drugs they said because of price. They wanted to wait until I was in grade 3 liver failure before giving it to me. I bet you can believe that after dealing with the VA.
My story gets even deeper! I had liver cancer for over 1.5 years and they didn't even tell me. The only way I found out was I feel like the good LORD told me to get my medical reports, which I'd never done and there it was in black and white. Hope your experience with the VA has been better than mine! If I'd of been told early, the mass could have been burned out. That's not to say I wouldn't have gotten it later with my cirrhosis.
Anyway It was too large after waiting for an appointment for 7 months to see the Dr. who would've burned it out. Personally I think, well.... know, considering all things I had to go through just to get that appointment was another delay tactic. I mean they act like it's their money instead of treating those who put their lives on the line to protect their liberties! Makes me wonder how many they didn't tell and just let die!
All those decisions by the VA cost the tax payers probably over a million for treatment associated with a liver transplant. Gilead tells me they've not treated anyone post transplant so I guess I'm a guinea pig but I have good news after 4+ weeks of Sovasbuvir sp? and Ribavirin my Btest shows <15 and not detected.
Having a transplant, I'm on Immunosupressants cyclosporin (which sometimes can have bad side effects with the Riba) The article I read on Drugs.com has a list a mile long about side effects of Riba, alone. Side effects alone, for the Immuno's, are bad enough but add the Riba and it can get eally bad. So far the bad feelings pass about two hours after taking the meds except for the fatigue or weakness... That for me, never goes away.
Sorry about all the venting but hopefully someone else may see this post that's dealing with the VA and Hep-C and will take the proper actions and get their med records and see what they're not telling them.
Good luck on your treatment!!!!
