Feeling somewhat normal..I think..
« on: September 22, 2015, 10:26:56 pm »
Tody for the first time in 7 weeks of starting Viekira Pak I actually felt normalish. I took this opportunity to get a lot done. I was in a good mood and a lot of the stuff Ive been hung up on lately just went away. I wouldnt say this is an improvement overall but definitely a sign that the effects are getting easier. Now if I can just get to sleep at a decent hour... I get my blood drawn tomorrow but no viral load test which is kindof annoying that I dont get to see whats happening. Five more weeks, then waiting for the word "cure". Ive noticed a lot of new people on VP which is great and I think we will have this beat in no time.

Hi Deathtohep,

Glad you're having an up day!

Are you taking ribavirin too? If so,...

I took Philly's advice on another thread, about when to take the ribavirin. It's helped for the last 3 nights. Rather than taking it with the Viekira Pak, I've started taking the afternoon dose about 3 hours earlier. It's the VP that needs to be exactly 12 hours apart. I'm sleeping much better. Don't know if it'll help you, but it's worth a try :)

Many more good days to you,
bye

Sleep is for babies!
Just kidding of course. My life journey with insomnia goes way back before HCV so the riba and viekira treatment just amplified a problem I already had.

Benadryl/diphenhydramine chewable pediatric dose of 12.5 mg each evening seemed to help (OK by my doctor) and when I was stuck in awake mode I used the time to focus on positive imagery of the medication working through every nook and cranny of my body. Visualizing every single cell being washed clean.

Another great option is this forum- open for business 24/7 and truly a blessing for all of us.

Hi all,
Well done on a good day now that's worth celebrating?
I'm a life long insomniac I wonder if it's HCV related? I have been taking Temazepam and phenergan occasionally, I try not yo take it if I can. I wake up several times a night and think about my house renovations! Oh what we do to get through the night. Visualisation is a great idea I like the virus being eaten up!

I love this forum. I have somewhere to come when I need to be understood. I can have a whinge without everyone looking at me with the " get over it" look! Cal :)

Sleeping is my biggest issue.  It was hard before treatment and I used to drink SleepyTime Tea, loaded with herbs, but while on treatment, I am abstaining from herbs of all kinds, so can't drink it.  Very, very cautious with sleeping pills and tranquilizers although I wish I took one last night as I had 4 hours sleep.

I listen to sleep meditations on youtube on my phone but didn't last night.  duh.  Visualizing is a great one...

Hi bree,
I have some mindfulness meditations on my phone and use them, if it's just getting ridiculous. It doesn't always work though, if you're not going to sleep, then nothing will work. Damn it :'( cal

Insomnia is not an issue for me generally, but those nights when I didny get enough sleep made for terrible days following. It felt like my nerve endings were raw and I had no buffer against the outside world. If I had a meltdown it was on a day without sleep the night before.

I feel for you guys with sleep issues.

I just started getting the 4:00 a.m., awake-for-no-reason Harvoni alarm clock.  Or maybe it's not the Harvoni - who knows.  I do diaphragmatic breathing (in deep for the count of 3, hold for 7, exhale for 8, etc.).  I'm not sure if it's the breathing or the boredom of counting that puts me back to sleep.

Yep, that was me last night.  Went to sleep at midnight and then at 4:30, bing... wide awake until time to get up.  I didn't want to take anything thinking I would sleep again.  I have clients today so need to perk up and use some concealer under my eyes. ha.  At least I'm functioning... wow... amazed every day by that.
What am I grateful for today?  Concealer for under my eyes!  And, of course, the fact that I get to wake up!

And, Philly... I was rude to two different retail clerks in town a few days ago... I was embarrassed as I try not to act like a fool.  It was from not being rested.  More lessons... I haven't arrived yet!

Hi Bree,
Would you take something if your Doctor said it was ok? Not always just when you really need. It amplifies all the sxs the next day if you don't sleep. I'm like Phily I have the nerve endings feeling electric when I am tired. Cal  :)

It's a good time girl club we belong to huh, Bree and Cal???

So happy to be able to turn on my laptop and see what y'all are up to heehee! :D

That's what I get for saying "Insomnia's a side effect! No biggie, I already have that!"... Whoopsie daisy! Lol  :o

I did take Philly's advice and started taking the 2nd dose of ribas about 3 hours before 2nd dose of VP and it has helped me with sleep for the last 3 nights. Didn't get up till 6! My neighbors have made fun of me for years for being reliably asleep till 10am before tx. For y'all overachievers for whom 6 am is running late, you may collectively roll your eyes :D...

And, Bree! Halleluia! and Amen! to the concealer! + sleep, teehee :D What would we do without it??? Now we need to find cranky from tx concealer, lol  ;D

See ya at (hopefully) 6 am ladies and gents :D

<3 bye

I'm waking up about 5-6am now. Don't mind I get on here and then bring breakfast to bed and take my pills. It's all about the pills 8) I too love to see what everyone has said overnight. I look forward to it. Life is pretty narrow right now so it's good to have some contact. Cal  :)

Hi Yall,  back online... had no power (and by that I mean electricity)!  Thanks for the comments re sleep.  I took half an ambien last night, probably could have slept without it but I just needed to be sure.  Woke up a couple of times - bing - but managed to go back to sleep.  Still, I'm so happy just because...!  I appreciate everyone and how we support each other.
