i am having a holiday in Thailand after 6 months of riba/solvaldi,
as I was on a trial they will not release my results until after my 12 week EOT bloods (6 more weeks to go). I decided to get some blood work done here and it came back with normal ALT/ASt They seem to use a different range here my ALt was 41 their reference range is 30-60 U/L. My tests in Australia for ALt were around 25 with a lower reference range do you know why there is a difference? Has it gone up or are they using a different method? I am concerned as I was informed that the ALT levels can be an indication of the virus coming back.

Yes different labs do use different reference ranges so I guess it would be where your result falls on the scale

Lynn is right. Some labs do 0-35, some 5 to 35, and some like yours. I've seen some as high as 65. The numbers can't be compared - a 30 from a lab that uses one reference range is not the same as a 30 from another lab. Also, ALT is constantly rising and falling, so we can't even compare different results from the same lab - normal is all we need to know.

Thank you for your feedback, I guess the only words I wanted to hear were " normal is all I need to know". The post treatment wait is proving more of an anxious time than I anticipated even in Thailand.!
