Title: VIRAL LOAD QUESTION
Post by: Lee on May 19, 2015, 10:05:47 pm
Hey guys,

I took a viral load test two days short of four weeks and the result was:

"<20 too low to quantify".

So that means the virus is still in there?  I see a lot of you had a result of <15 Undetected.  Why is 15 undetected but 20 is too low to quantify?

I am just wondering what this all means - does anyone know?

OK, 20 more of those little ______'s to go!! Since I started with 6.6 million, I have to be happy with 20, but I sure wish I had gotten "undetected". Wouldn't it be awful to be this close and not be able to knock it out all the way?!

Appreciate your thoughts on this.

Lee

Hi,

Don't worry mine was < 15 at 8 weeks but at 12 it was negative.

Some people are still detected at EOT that go on to SVR12.

My doc doesn't even want to do labs until EOT.

Good luck! You'll be fine.

Even not detected does not mean no virus it just means the quantity of virus is below the ability of the test to detect.

Lower limit of quantification (LLOQ) is defined as “the lowest amount of an analyte in a sample that can be quantitatively determined with suitable precision and accuracy” according to FDA1.

I was not detected last year at week 4 and EOT 12 with Sovaldi and Olysio but when tested 12 weeks after treatment was completed I had relapsed back to pre treatment level of 2.4 million viral load

So even though I was not detected I was not virus free.

The only test that matters is 12 weeks post treatment although 4 weeks post treatment still not detected is a very good indication of likely SVR.

I took Harvoni for 12 weeks, negative at end of treatment. Just had 3 month labs after tx.- Virus undetected! So glad! Karen
