Title: Getting Started
Post by: annabanana on May 22, 2014, 11:41:55 pm
After much back and forth and conversations with hubby, Dr. and nurses, I have decided to move forward with Solvaid/Riba treatment.  24 weeks and I am scared as h***.

I didn't think this disease had affected me very much except for the silent havoc it wreaked on my body, but after copious reading for the last couple of weeks I realize many of my "issues" the last few years are probably related to HepC...fatigue, achiness, brain fog, vision issues.

So now it's time to get rid of it before I have major liver damage...hoping the SX aren't to debilitating.  Luckily we own our business, so I have flexibility in my work schedule and can take it easy when needed.  I am just nervous it will negatively affect my 10 year old son....I will take it day by day and hope for the best.  Wish me luck!

Good luck!  Of course medicines effect different people in different ways, but you caught a real break avoiding the interferon. It is my guess that you should have a fairly easy time of it, with fatigue being the worst of it as your red cell count most likely will decline. Mild rashes have also been reported, so keep a topical anti-itch cream handy,  For flu like symptoms drink lots of water and remember that ibuprofen can be your friend too.  The 24 weeks will pass quickly, and I/we look forward to your updates on how it is going and progressive lab results.  -jack

Hi Anna,

Like Jack said - it's nice you don't have to do the Interferon.

Make sure you drink plenty of water.

Best wishes, Mike

Good luck AnnaB.  I just started with the Sovaldi/Olysio 3 days ago and have had NO adverse side effects.  I'm really amazed. 3 down 87 to go.
