No fun Drummerman. I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully, it'll subside quickly this time.

Did your doc give you anything to help with this last go around with this sx?...

I had this today (first day of week 7) while I was cleaning around the house. Its really humbling and frustrating that the most basic things are a challenge but Ive learned not to fight it, lay down and rest for 15 and Im good. My friends make fun of me and call me an old man when Im barely 30! Gotta love that moral support.

Wow youre from Alaska? Have I seen you on the history channel?

Also, how did you know your viral load went down in three days? Normally they dont test for that until 3 or 4 weeks out.

Oh my LOL Deathtohep! Well of COURSE you've seen me on the HC! Baahaaa :D

As to the early vl, I didn't know I was supposed to get a BOT vl and blood work done before starting. So, I started taking the meds, then called my doc about the ex's I was having. She just about rapped my knuckles with a ruler over the phone, then told me to get the bloodwork done asap. I did, then she compared it to my numbers from late July... I just don't like  to play by the rules apparently :D

See her soon on the History Channel!!!... HepC Dancing and Afraid Alaska! (spoken by the guy from all movie trailers :) )

P.S. I am an actual cornball.

DeathtoHep, some of us have been streaming Netflix with a VPN for ages now <cough>, but Netflix finally released an Aust version this year. It has slightly different programming to NetflixUSA, but you might only work that out if you have previously gone down the VPN path.

I dunno.... Teaching high school boys, I can never not be physical .... but I do get to take a nap everyday after school and then I teach private lessons, so not much down time.  But I can at least go to bed at about 10 every night, then get up at 5 and do it again.

My original plan was to do this in the summer with no classes to teach.... but of course after a 1 month long fight with the stupid online pharmacy, I got a  late start and went into one of the busiest times of the  year for me.

And valium is less addictive than xanax.... I would try time release valium.  If he will rx it.

Doctors get real stingy with with valium, xanax, etc.... I know, I know, "you can get addicted"....I'll worry about that after tx.  I've quit alcohol and cigarettes cold turkey... I think I can handle quitting one more thing.  Fortunately my doctor is not stingy and very supportive.

DM I'm counting right along with you!  My last pill is next Sunday, yours too?

I asked my infectious disease doc - the one who wrote Harvoni script -  to refill Xanax and ambien (a small prescription I was given by my internist back in January) and he got all indignant.  I would think if a 30 day script has lasted 8 months I'm not abusing it!  I'm so very careful.  And he knows my insomnia issues on treatment. This guy is a piece of work.  He told me to go back to my internist (my champion all the way through - the one who told me about Harvoni) to get a re-fill.  O.k. then I will!!!

A few times when I really can't sleep I have taken one or the other and get almost a good night's sleep and I feel great the next day.

Anyway, I'm excited to be nearing the end and sharing it with a number of us that finish around the same time.  I'm going to start a new thread about it...

Hi DM,
Yeah with a job like yours it would be hard to keep movement to a minimum. I don't know how you do it. I caught  a bus to the hospital today to avoid horrendously expensive parking costs. I am knackered now but it was worth it. You have to still carry o living. Yes they are stingy about valium, but I have a good GP and I'll come off them with her if I have addiction. It's the least of our problems??? Anyway not long now and you'll be off those ribas and your nervous system will abate. This is an exercising in kickin' and gougin' your way through,  but thank goodness there are starting to be up days.

Bummer about the drugs coming through in your busy period. I waited nearly a year for my compassionate grounds drugs. Waiting is what we Heppers seem to do best. ;D >:( :) Cal

Silicon Valley is near San Francisco, Cal. Think Google, Netflix, HP...all have headquarters here so interns move in during the summer and jack the rent up. Watch the show Silicon Valley....its just like that.

I finish a week from this Sunday.

Yep.  Thats a common occurrence.  I guess they're afraid they will be sued by someone who becomes addicted, but mine had me sign a form saying I understood the risk of addiction.

.my sister in law pharmacist, told me to ask my gp for the xanax rx...not my tx doctor.  I told my tx doctor and he could have cared less.... ya never know.  Some are real jackasses about it , others are not so concerned.

Anyway, there were many days when it was a big help... as the riba makes me real hyper (which doesn't go well with running out of breath every 5 minutes.  It makes me feel like I have downed about 4 energy drinks at once.  Hate it.

Good luck with eot!  gonna be nice not taking these stupid pills!

Cal, VPN is Virtual Private Network.  It's a piece of software that hides your actual location, tricking other computers into thinking your request has come from say the USA or hiding its location altogether. With a VPN, Netflix thinks I live in the US and gives me access to the U.S. programming.

Re how I feel, my last two blog entries have been about that. I feel pretty good and think I am feeling better every day

Thanks Phily,
I read your blog post. Your bloods are coming along nicely, you are in recovery mode. The waiting, well it's what we do best isn't it? I waited almost a year for my compassionate access and was told 6-8 weeks so from 8 weeks I was on high alert. Waiting, waiting. Yes you can do it. Feeling better everyday is music to moi's shell likes. Thanks for the VPN explanation, I feel tech savvy one day and then not the next. Confusing world we live in. Cal  :)

dm, I finish a week from Sunday too (Sept. 28).  Sometimes what comes out of my mouth and typing fingers is not what my brain is trying to say.  Can't even blame it on meds.

I've held back on saying this but my doc has been a bigger challenge than the treatment. It's amazing the advocacy we have to do for ourselves.  In short, hepc'ers are an amazing tribe!

I hope you and everyone will join in the EOT - Finishing strong thread.  I'm wanting to psych up so we roll into EOT expecting everything wonderful in the world;).  We deserve it!

Yes , we can blame it on the meds.  Some day I will leave a post in its original condition.  It is hilarious.  So i have to go back and change know to now, and today to Tuesday, etc.
We will finish strong and we do reserve it.. i mean deserve it!

Some doctors and medical personnel get real weird around hcv patients.  I guess they are scared to death they are going to get invected (infected, sorry it IS the meds)  through a needle stick etc.  At least thats the vibe I get from some.  The way I see it, if thats the way they feel they should have chosen another profession.

I had a hep nurse advise me once that if I was ever in an accident that I should never tell the ambulance staff that  I have hcv.  She seemed to think that some would not be overly enthusiastic about treating me.   That was her take, don't know if that is true or not.   But she was very insistent that I keep my mouth shut in that circumstance.  Probably a good idea.
