Generic Harvoni day 1 tomorrow 4/14
« on: April 13, 2016, 10:40:57 pm »
Well I've lurked long enough! I'm starting generic Harvoni tomorrow and I've been reading all of your posts and trying to decide what time of day I will take it. I'm leaning towards morning because I see some people have trouble sleeping. Can anyone chime in about when you take it?
I've had much more fatigue the last couple of years and lots of GI symptoms.
I was turned down by insurance 2 years in a row, "too healthy"  >:( done the appeals and then discovered Greg Jefferys. Now I'm excited to start and hope I'm one of the lucky 95%!
I welcome tips and fellowship!

Hi Suze,

I took it at 9:00 am every morning with a smoothie and oatmeal or Red River.

I didn't have many side effects to speak of but did on occasion have the odd dizzy second and I was bloated and puffy a lot to the point of about 5 lbs.

Good luck with treatment and I am glad to see that you were finally able to receive it.

Thank you Kim,
I feel very fortunate to have learned of the generics from India. I would not be starting tx without the kindness of strangers from across the world! What is Red River?

Hi Suze,

A close friend of mine just started Zepatier last night.  I will call her later to see how she is doing.  I am on my 5th week of Harvoni and I take it right after dinner at 6:30pm.  It has worked very well for me.  My Doctor thought is was a good idea to take it with a meal to avoid any nausea that might happen.  Only had to drink a little bit of ginger ale so far for an upset stomach.  It did the trick.  I usually sleep well but have had a few nights here and there when I only sleep a few hours.  Overall I have felt good especially the last few weeks.  Hang in there!  Brie

Did they test you for resistance before starting?  My friend didn't check to make sure and didn't seemed too concerned if they did or didn't?

Hi Suze,

Red river must be a Canadian thing. It originated in Manitoba's Red River valley and is a combination of wheat, rye and flax. You cook it like oatmeal or steel cut oats and I like it the best of any oat meals.

After treatment, I missed my little ritual of taking the pill and my oatmeal isn't the same without it - until I learn of my fate in 2 months that is.
