Compared to the overall population of people living with hepatitis C, injection drug users (a.k.a. IDUs) tend to be much younger when they develop serious liver damage from HCV -- often developing conditions like cirrhosis and fibrosis by middle age.
The new findings, published by New York University, were published with hopes to help expand access to earlier testing, diagnosis and treatment in this group.
