Title: What it takes to get Hep C on the national radar
Post by: hep_mom on August 07, 2012, 01:23:35 pm
I'm surprised no one has commented on the craziness surrounding the guy in NH that has potentialy spread hep C across a dozen states. (http://www.hepmag.com/articles/hepatitis_outbreak_exeter_2501_22591.shtml)

The one sliver of silver lining is this is the first hep story I've ever seen reach the masses. I saw a link to the story on CNN.com homepage. I've had friends ask me if I've heard about Exeter NH. It's been a great opportunity for me to educate my friends on the who is at risk and urge them to get tested.

Now there is talk of getting expanded testing throughout NH and a possibility of getting those who have tested positive access to new treatments not yet approved by the fda.

If we could turn this horrible story into a huge country-wide teaching moment at least some good come out of this nightmare.

Amazing how this story just keeps getting bigger. How can this guy have gotten away with it for so long?
