My doctor has not ordered a liver biopsy, yet. (He said where we live, they don't have fibroscan technology, so that isn't an option). my blood markers are all good except for the AST/ALT which seems to be coming down with treatment.
I'm glad not to have a liver biopsy because, from what I have read, there's no cure for Cirrhosis and the management protocol is to live a liver healthy lifestyle (which I'm already doing) and have regular check ups, which I will have anyway even after treatment. It's possible they could find liver cancer, but if not, I could get it in the future anyway. Then what? I have to have another biopsy?
Last week, The doctor hinted that we 'may' want to do a biopsy after treatment.
Knowing what stage of Cirrhosis I have would be interesting, but would it change my treatment options?
