According to this industry expert, HIV/HCV co-infected patients will most likely be one of the first groups to get treated for the virus under AASLD’s prioritized guidelines. But for hep C treatment to be effective, patients will have to get their HIV in check first. There’s also quite a bit of red tape to sort through in terms of financing the drugs.
