Title: Genotype 3
Post by: someguy10 on December 22, 2014, 12:46:58 am
Hello,

First time posting...I was diagnosed with hepatitis c in 2012. I am 30 years old. I have no idea how i got it. Doctor said i might have stage 2 or 3 fibrosis. Doctor wants me to
start treament first month of the new year. Also, wants to do a endocopy? Is it necessary to do a endocopy?

Hi welcome

I didn't have an upperendoscopy until I had F4 aka cirrhosis. No harm in doing an upperendoscopy to make sure you are ok. From my understanding they usually do that for F4.

Are you seeing a hepatologist or at least a gastroenterologist familiar with treating patients with hep c?

Good luck with treatment

Yes, i am seeing a hepatologist. I havent talked to the doctor directly after my ultrasound. How long was your upperendoscopy? were you awake during it?

How long dunno maybe in and out in 4 hours procedure takes minutes. Yes sedated that's why I have no idea how long I was there. Must have a driver a friend or family member. Nothing to eat or drink after midnight no red dye foods.

Piece of cake they give you the anesthetic and you are out in seconds.

I have had like 9 upper endoscopies I had esophageal varicies grade 3 so I had to have 4 sessions the have the varicies banded. The others were survailence since my diagnosis with cirrhosis in 2008
