Title: my symptoms for 2 years =(
Post by: hooka25 on March 25, 2015, 02:30:20 pm
Hi all.

Id like some reassurance if possible.

For 2 years now from when i think i got exposed, ive had symptoms of hepatitis.

Firstly i had lots of mucous stools/diarrhoea which was yellow, then a dull ache in right upper abdomen, this still comes and goes and is worse if i drink alcohol. Also my urine is always golden yellow since 2 years even after lots of water. My eyes have tint of yellow. Also my hands are mottled

Ive had 2 hepatitis antibody tests.  First one was at 5 months, hep B and C negative.

then another test at the doctors at 6 months which was also negative for hep A, B and C. Also liver function test showed ALT to be 47.

Can this be some other issue rather than hepatitis symptoms?

Many thanks for your time.

You have been tested for hepatitis A B and C and are not infected many things can cause elevations in ALT from liver problems to taking too much aspirin or excessive drinking. Also being overweight can cause fat to build up in the liver causing elevations.

What does your doctor say? Does he feel your eyes look jaundiced?

Your other symptoms don't sound like hepatitis symptoms.

I don't know what you mean by mottled hands but depending on what you mean that could also be many things including just getting older than you were 2 years ago.

yellow stools

Your stool can be used as an indicator that there may be something wrong with your health. Yellow stools can be caused by several emotional or physical disorders, so noting your other symptoms will be essential to determining the root cause of your yellow colored stool.

mucus in stool

A small amount of mucus in stool is usually nothing to worry about. Stool normally contains a small amount of mucus — a jelly-like substance that your intestines make to keep the lining of your colon moist and lubricated.

Lots of things can can effect urine color including change in diet or taking vitamins.

"Can this be some other issue rather than hepatitis symptoms?"

I doubt these things you are noticing are necessarily anything and as you do not have Hep A, B or C the best thing to do would be to ask your questions of a doctor.

Good luck

Thanks for your very helpful message back Lynn. And thanks for taking the time to respond to each symptom individually.
