Title: Just Started Harvoni+Riba (Geno 3a) - VL Question
Post by: KimInTheForest on May 07, 2015, 04:44:02 pm
I am thrilled about starting Harvoni treatment and am feeling quite optimistic about the outcome.:) I am on Day 3 of a 12-week program of Harvoni+Ribavirin, via an Open Label clinical trial for treatment-naive Genotype 3 people in Canada. So far, no side effects. But of course, I am not very far in.

I do have a question about my Viral Load results. I will ask the trial doctor or trial nurse next time I see them. But perhaps someone here knows the answer:

My VL numbers for last year, done by my hometown doctor and processed by a lab in Canada, have been very low, ranging from 47650 to 109825 IU/mL

My VL done 2 weeks ago by the out-of-town trial clinic (and processed by a lab in Indiana) came in at 8850000 IU/mL - in other words, about 100 times higher than my previous VL results for past year. Why the huge discrepancy? I know VL can fluctuate. But this looks like one set of numbers (but which set?) is out by 2 full decimal points.
Any theories?

Wishing for successful treatment response for all of us,
Kim
