Title: Liver transplant
Post by: denbar60 on July 05, 2015, 05:34:56 pm
First thanks for allowing me to join this forum. I had a liver transplant 2 years ago and started treatment for hep c 5 days ago. I am wondering if anyone else has had a transplant and the harvoni and rib treatment. What I am wondering is what if any side effects they might have experienced.

I have read a lot of posts here and on other forums with individuals with liver transplants on treatment.

From my reading they did just fine and didn't report anything that was common in others.

It seems Harvoni is well tolerated. Ribavirin has know side effects and your doctor will be monitoring your blood counts.

Make sure you drink plenty of water as this seems to help.

Side effects can include fatigue, anxiety, shortness of breath (from low blood cell count) mood-swings and so on. These can be well managed and let your doctor know if you experience any of these.

Harvoni has been known to cause a slight headache the first week or so, and then it subsides.

We're all pulling for you!

Best, best wishes for a cure! Mike

Its been a week now, I've had one day were I was pretty fatigued and could not nap. Also one night I could not sleep. Other than those incidents no problems. Went for my first lab today.
