I had new carpeting installed in my family room and the man who installed it cut his finger just as he was finishing up. He got blood on the new carpet. He immediately wiped the blood off of the carpet with a scrap piece of carpeting by rubbing it vigorously. (I do not see any visible blood on the carpet currently. I did see it before he wiped it up.) I am also worried about it being tracked around the room since the area was walked on to put the furniture back in the room (it was walked on before chemicals were sprayed on the area).
After he left, I cleaned the area with resolve and wiped it with a clorox (non-bleach) wipe. I have an active baby that is crawling and walking everywhere. I obviously don’t know if this person has any type of infection. Hep C is my biggest concern as far as blood borne pathogens. I am just scared of my child contracting something as she is crawling around the carpeting.
I know that you need blood to blood exposure. I work in healthcare, which is probably why this freaks me out. I am just worried she will get a cut then touch this area and she is always putting her fingers in her mouth. Is there any risk? Should I wait out the 6 weeks (the new studies say this is the lifespan of the virus on inanimate objects) to give her free reign?

HCV is transmitted by a blood-to-blood mechanism. There is a zero chance of contracting HCV from this type of exposure (carpet-to-person).
