Title: HBsAg Quant Assay
Post by: ArtVandelay on August 04, 2015, 01:04:22 pm
Through my reading about HBV and various treatments. It seems that several studies have suggested/found that having a lower surface antigen level to begin with increases the chance of seroconversion when treatment is given (particularly the treatment I am on (TDF with peg inf alfa 2a).

The current debate in the US is whether the Quant Assay for the surface antigen holds any merit. Right now you can only get the quantitative test overseas.

My personal opinion is that if the chance of clearing surface antigen goes up significantly if your level is low...and your chances are not good at all if your level is high - we should have access to the quant assay here to determine potential treatment options.

Thoughts?
