Title: "HCV Not Detected"!
Post by: drummerman on September 12, 2015, 11:34:47 pm
I never thought I would see those words on my lab reports.... but there they are...I am in shock and it has still not sunk in... it seems like a dream.   I never believed that I would see the results I'm seeing in my lifetime.  And even better tx is on the way!
So much gratitude to all those that blazed the trail, the research hospitals, the people that went through all of the trials....my original pharmacy nurse advocate, who got me authorization, even though my own insurance company would not let me use her pharmacy.  What a battle.
My boss , that gave me the one semester off for interferon/riba tx...WITH PAY!
And let me take the day off when I felt too bad to go in on round 2, which was only about 4 days so far, but still, he was so understanding and said " we will work with you  on this".  You are my hero!  Pretty ironic cause I had him in class 15 years ago, now he is my boss. .... lol.
You are my heroes.

I do not deserve any of this and if I could give UND  to any of you on this forum , I gladly would.

Now..... the people who are not my heroes >:(... you were the ones that gave me a hard time on the phone,   you were the ones that treated me like I knew nothing about this virus, when in fact I knew more than you...I studied hcv for 9 years  and learned all I could from the internet and books, and would have learned even more except my chemistry sucks...(music major, lol) .... you were great at reading pamphlets, but that was about it. (that being said, I never had a specialist, only gastros...and I swear I would have done just as well with my gp.... but I could't talk him into it...but I almost did.

Non-heroes... YOU know HCV has a certain stigma,  please show a little compassion and know all you can know about hcv and tx.  Hope I don't sound bitter , but I had to fight with many who seemed to be unqualified to deal with the intricacies of this virus and tx.

Now just got to get to the 12 weeks check and then they do a blood draw in a year??
Guess I could read the pamphlet.   lol.

ps - I mysteriously acquired what I call the "smart people phone #" for the largest online pharmacy in the u.s..... Also the most difficult one to deal with.  If you think you are using this pharmacy, feel free to pm me and I will give you this phone #.   This is NOT the phone # you see on their web site....(of course).... and what a crappy website....I quit using it as it cause more problems than using the phone..I think it was designed by a junior high computer tech class.... pathetic.  Which sucked cause everytime I had to talk to a rep... I physically got nauseated , it was bizarre, and I hated talking to them on the phone....until I got the "good" phone #!!!

sorry to blather on... its the 3 riba crankin' me up.

Now I know the bottom line is (at this point I am UND), that being said, maybe I am being too hard on the my non-heroes.  But did you have to make it so hard???

DM, Crank it up Man. I guess I'm glad that I'm not on Ribavarin. If it gets You going like this ( You seem to be kind of laid back and easy going by Your posts ) I can only imagine what it would do to someone like Me with a mouth like mine, no filter, and a temper to boot. Look out world. Everyone needs to let her rip occasionally! If You keep it all in and compartmentalize everything it causes stress. So think of it as stress relief! Sounds like normal venting to Me. I don't see any problems with giving credit where it is due, and grief where it is deserved. Totally coherent to Me, no blathering detected. I kind of liked the post Myself!!!!!

Slats,
saw in your signature that  you had a glucose test.   Was this a "fasting" glucose test??  needs to be.  And it will not be normal if you have hcv... it really messes with the way insulin works (doesn't work well).

DM, Good to know that , I wasn't aware of the fasting! I actually was fasting but not by choice. The day of the Labs. was one of My BAD ASS headache days. Did not eat all day. Test was done late afternoon. The test was part of full CBC, Liver Panel work up, not a glucose sugar binding test by itself. It's always nice to get info. the Medical Community never explains to You!

Pretty funny!

I think it would be a good idea for all to ask their doctor if they should fast before blood tests... sometimes its required , other times doesn't matter.

My wife actually went thru a blood test that she was supposed to fast for and they never told her.

The one thing I have learned in dealing with this for 10 years is..... assume nothing.  Ask everything.

Congratulations on being clear.  Getting treatment is very difficult and that is wrong and that is why I am so very very grateful and respectful of the opportunity to get well and enjoy the benefits of a healthy body and mind.  Best wishes in your new life!

I have a 12 week prescription for Harvoni.  If all goes well I start the new year clear of HepC.
