Title: Fighting Hep C: A Hep Forum Member's Story
Post by: lporterrn on September 26, 2015, 04:28:12 pm
Mugwump has given me permission to connect his Hep Story to his Hep Forum identity. His story is a powerful illustration about how much hep C weighs on us, particularly the heavy fear of infecting others. By telling his Hep Story, Eric (Mugwump) invites us all to confront our deepest fears, and share them with each other. http://www.hepmag.com/articles/eric_reesor_2846_27742.shtml (http://www.hepmag.com/articles/eric_reesor_2846_27742.shtml)

Annette Simmons said, “Storytelling is a vaccine against war.” We are at war with hepatitis C; I invite you to share your story: http://www.hepmag.com/hep_stories.shtml (http://www.hepmag.com/hep_stories.shtml)

Thanks for sharing your story, Eric. It's really moving. May more of us follow in your footsteps and step up to tell our stories. Glad you had the courage to do so. It's inspiring. :)

Thank you Eric for having the courage to 'come out' and share your story.  Breaking down barriers starts with reducing the stigma associated with this disease.  I applaud your courage!

Thanks Eric,

For me it was my son playing with my bic razor.  I am so glad you can now report...you ain't got it.  I'm curious though...whats the best fish you ever caught?  Now you've got to take me fishing.

 :)

I am not brave enough to be outed yet and much respect to all of you that are.

For me the moment was when I cut finger at work after treatment and was in panic mode trying to fine a bleach wipe to detoxify all traces of my fluids and then I was hit by the 2x4 of truth-  that I was now undetected for virus. I was no longer a walking biohazard.
The weight lifted and I was blown away by just how much I had been carrying all these years and had been  in full on denial about the burden and the toll it had taken on me.
