Title: New to forum- prescribed Sovaldi/Daklinza
Post by: Dmv914 on December 29, 2015, 11:19:02 pm
Just found this forum- lots of useful information.
I've had Hep C (genotype 3a) for 25 years- found out a few years ago that I passed it to my daughter during childbirth (she is 22).

We were both prescribed Sovaldi and Daklinza treatment. Unfortunately, our insurance company only covers the Daklinza.

Have researched financial assistance for treatment- however have only found programs that offer 25% discount...doesn't help much when total is over $80,000...

Any other options out there?

Thank you for sharing your experiences!

I like to use the plus/delta method when I make major decisions. Choosing to buy affordable generic HCV medication qualifies.
+
1. You get well
2. You no longer can infect others
3. You don't have to wait months or years to be treated
4. Your insurance company saves a ton of money in treatment costs that it would have to recoup by charging everyone higher premiums.
5. Same with government insurance but higher taxes instead of premiums.
6. You become less of a burden to the health care system
7. You don't have to wipe out your savings or borrow a bunch of money
(I could add much more...)

Big pharma companies don't get to make obscene profits on desperate peoples' misery and suffering

All in all, a pretty simple choice.
