Post by: perineuro on January 04, 2016, 12:32:54 pm
Geno 2b HepC w/cirrhosis.  I finished my 12 weeks then Gastro put me on another 4 weeks due to cirrhosis.  Now my left ear is itching so bad, inside and out, I need help on how to get rid of it?

Gosh, I remember this side effect. Things you can try:
1) Talk to your doc about an antihistamine or ear drops
2) Press on the pinna (the outer part of the ear that you would press to block noise. It's also called the auricle)

Here's what not to do: Don't put any object in the ear.

Hi Lucinda, thank you for your reply.
I had to put benadryl lotion on the outside of my ear. The pinna (auricle) is itching, red and swollen.  I lightly pressed the benadryl lotion on it.  I was very careful to make sure inner ear did not get any.  Feels much better Already!!! :D
But my inner ear is itching, and I q-tip inside and a pink light fluid shows on end of q-tip.  I have appt with PCP in a week.
I think with the Benadryl,  I can hold out till then.

Hi - if it gets worse before then, be sure to see your doc to rule out an infection or bite. Don't put ANY object, including a q-tip in the ear. The rule of thumb is, "Don't put anything in your ear smaller than your elbow." - we need the wax to protect us and the drum can be easily damaged.
