Title: Harvoni is incredible! Gilead Sciences team should get the Nobel Prize!
Post by: Allen Cunningham on January 27, 2016, 07:53:05 pm
Diagnosed 8/97 with HepC
Liver Transplant 7/2004
Genotype 1b, Biopsy:12/2015: F1, TX Naive
v/l: ~600,000 - ~1,000,000 ALT: 26, AST: 26
Starting 12 wks Harvoni Jan 19, 2016

I started treatment on Jan 19th 2016 and had my first labs Jan 22nd - And in 3 days my viral level went from 1,000,000 to 444! In 3 days it reduced the virus 99.98% with no side effects what so ever, only a pleasant buzz in the morning when I take it that fells like a cup of coffee.

I have lived with the worst symptoms of liver disease you can have without going into liver failure and coma, then I was blessed by my brother in law to get a living donor transplant from him.
After transplant the disease always comes back (my gastro would say it's not if but when it comes back) I was lucky and lived with no symptoms 12 years after the transplant and waited until there was decent treatment and then along comes Harvoni for me at just the right time.

Being a post-transplant patient I was approved immediately by Tricare and Express Scripts for 12 weeks, and I'm loving this medicine, I look forward to taking it every morning!

I am just blown away by a medicine that can destroy over 99% of a virus in 3 days and start healing the liver scars! This med is worth every penny of $1135.00 per pill and these guys should get the Nobel prize for what they have done!

Actually Gilead did not develop Sovaldi one of the two drugs in Harvoni

They bought the rights to Sovaldi from Pharmasset pharmaceuticals.

The inventor of Sovaldi aka Sofosbuvir was invented by, and named after, Michael Sofia and we all owe this man our deepest gratitude.

So glad you treatment is going well best to you
