Title: HCV sexual transmission
Post by: lporterrn on April 24, 2016, 09:50:02 pm
I am posting this for a member who prefers to remain anonymous:

I do not understand some of ways of transmission.  My situation is I have hep C and am monogamous.  My partner does not have it but he is not monogamous.  Is his risk of getting it from me or from his having multiple partners?
Why do multiple partners increase risk and for whom?

His risk is both, but it largely depends on his sexual practices. The risk increases for anal-receptive sex, sex in which there is risk of tissue damage, and if he has HIV. The association between number of partners and risk is likely due to a generalization, that people with multiple partners tend to take more risks, and they increase their exposure to infectious diseases.
