Title: 11 days and counting until end of treatment
Post by: robert98 on July 10, 2016, 05:07:38 pm
Well, I can't say it has been fun. Lack of sleep has been my main problem along with feeling tired all the time. It has been a rough journey and one that I hope to never repeat. I am a Vietnam era vet and have plenty of tattoos. I don't have a clue as to when and where I caught it. All I know is that about 20 years ago I got the symptoms. The VA tested me and I came up positive. They are also paying for my treatment with Harvoni. My body has changed for the better. I am very grateful just tired of taking pills. Win or lose I will just be glad that the treatment is over. My testosterone levels have risen and I have more strength but stay tired. I wish all of you the best of luck.

We're all pulling for you and the cure!

Best wishes, Mike

Thanks again for the inspiration. If I had to do 24 weeks on this stuff I would pull out what little hair I have left. God bless.

I got treated through the VA also Robert. My doctor told me he was going to cure me and he did(without killing me).He also told me that most of us got it from those vaccine guns they used on us.How we got it is a moot point.Getting rid of it is everything. You're going to make it so keep the faith.I just got my SVR 24 and aced the test.Hang in there. 8)

Hi Bill:
Thank you so much for your support my fellow vet. I first experienced the air guns while stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey. I remember dropping to my knees with blood streaming down my arms. They kept us moving right along while getting zapped in both arms and spreading diseases.  God bless you....

Dear Philadelphia, its time and Gonzo,
I thank you all for your encouragement. It means a lot to me. Yesterday for the first time after about 2 hours I threw up after taking the Harvoni and it hurt like hell. So I took a second pill and after about 4 hours I threw up again. I called it quits for the day after that. It feels good to know that you guys care. I feel all alone on this journey. Your compassion touches my soul and inspires me to continue crawling on towards the finish line. 8 more pills and this nightmare will be over. God bless... :'(

You're on the home stretch now, Robert. We're all pulling for you. At this late stage it most likely doesn't matter if you throw up a half absorbed dose. I'd be careful of doubling up if it happens again though. The pill would have been long dissolved in your stomach by the time you vomited and accidentally overdosing yourself by taking another would just make the nausea worse and then some. Just my opinion. I'm no medical professional. Anyway, I'm looking forward to your EOT and SVR posts. Keep us informed on how you're doing.

I really appreciate your kind words of encouragement. It has been an emotional and physical roller coaster. 6 more days of hell and it will be over. I have been reduced from a strong willed determined person to a very sad and tired wreck. When it is finally over I will close my bedroom door and cry a river of tears. God bless you all...

One-more-pill! I don't think I was this anxious while waiting to get discharged from the military. It will be a day to celebrate. I hope to God that I never have to go through anything like this again. I have lost 20 pounds due to this experience and turned into a sissy.LOL Thank you all for your support. If I had to go through what some of you did I would have ended up in the VA nut ward. God bless you all.

Come on Robert. At least when we DEROS'd we knew it was over, and after what you just went through you can forget the sissy stuff.I've been in a couple of VA psych wards.Trust me they're not pretty, and it takes more than this to get you there, unless you got the ribas with it.If you did all bets are off. When I went through the interferon treatments we were required to go through mental health.Take it for what it's worth. 8)

Thank you for the encouragement Bill. Yessssss!!!! It is finally over. It has been hell but I made it. Time to gather my thoughts and plan for a better tomorrow. I have to go for blood work at the VA today. I am sure it will come back undetected. God bless you all...

You're going to be fine Robert. It takes several days for them to get the results back so expect a delay. One thing I did was sign up for the My HealtheVet.You can sign up for it online but I think I had to go to release of information and sign something so I could access all my labs and such. You can check it and get them the same day as they add them to your records.Keep us posted.

Some people don't know how to navigate the VA system Robert. The paperwork from release of information was something I didn't know as far as getting information online. It has to do with what they'll release online. When you sign in it should say you have a premium account. If it doesn't call ROI.They'll help you sort it.Cheers
