Title: World Hepatitis Day - Aust
Post by: Philadelphia on August 02, 2016, 08:16:47 am
Here in Australia we are fortunate to have an approach to HCV treatment that allows everyone to be treated regardless of liver scoring, and includes PWID, is being set up for prisoners, is affordable, and is available through a GP once they have done some additional training.

That's why we have seen treatment numbers approaching 20,000 since DAAs have been available - early March 2016. We are on track to treat 30,000 people by year's end. I read someone that we will treat more people this year than have been treated in all the years previously.

I did a few interviews, as it is important to keep getting that message out: get tested, get treated, get cured.

And I finally got around to blogging about it.

Links to interviews are in the blog, but if I get the time I'll also pop them in this post.

Sometimes it's easy to forget how truly lucky we are to live in this country. Numbers like that are a good reminder.
