Title: Update
Post by: Raymond C. on September 30, 2016, 08:50:46 am
Good day to all. Just got my latest lab test back yesterday from the VA. I have been on Harvoni for ten weeks and the lab results came back as "good, there is no detectable virus in your blood". "However, we will not know if this is a cure until we recheck the viral count the week of January 4th, please have labs done sometime that week." Generally I would of gotten my lab test on the 12th week of my Harvoni treatment but I went in for a flu shot and they took my blood then. The medic said I was far enough along on the treatment that it would be ok. Saved me another 50 mile drive into the clinic. So come January I will get another blood count. I will finish out my twelve week precription that has two weeks.
Thanks for all the support from you all.

Yes the only test for viral load that matters is the 12 week post treatment test. On treatment testing really does not mean much as almost everyone is not detected on treatment except for a few who were weakly detected in treatment.

Congrats on the on treatment no detected it is still nice to see that result now onward to SVR12!

Thanks so much Lynn K....Monday will be the two week mark for waiting on insurance to approve or deny.  Yes I must use Express Scripts...at least for the first rx...I contacted the proCeed help line for VP and the nurse said something about Express Scripts has to fill first one and then they "farm it out" to another specialty pharmacy. That just sounds like more headache and fight...fingers crossed...I have never been good at waiting so I guess I need to learn.  :D  She also told me to have it delivered to my work address so I don't have to take off work and wait on the UPS guy.  That was a helpful hint.
I just want to say that reading this forum over the past few days has helped me greatly.  I do get nervous about side effects but hope I can make the best of it for three months in order to be free of this nasty stuff in my body!
Good luck to all and much love

Yes I remember waiting for UPS I cannot have delivered to my work giant company with secured facility. What I did was have them hold at a nearby UPS store and drop in on my way to work to pick up (I work second shift afternoon to night)

Yes why do you think we are called patients lol

If you are on Facebook checkout the Express Script Facebook page. The phone number I mentioned can be found there as well as some enlightening comments from patients about their experiences with express scripts.

Best to you

Thanks so much and I will definitely check out their Facebook.  I am certain ins will deny because I have not had biopsy or fibroscan.  My doc wanted to try to get approval without just to see. I wasn't a fan of that plan but oh well...we shall see...

if you have to I would recommend the fibroscan it could maybe give you a higher score as it is less accurate than a biopsy and of course the whole getting a needle in your side thing

My thoughts exactly! Needles are not fun! I have to drive 3 hours for the scan but that is okay...I enjoy a good road trip!   I just need to get the show on the road...I have met my deductible for the year so I need to get as much done and approved before Dec 31 but seems as though I have zero control

I had the Harvoni delivered to a local pharmacy and I picked it up there. The first round was delivered close to where I work in Oakland, CA. The second round was close to where I live and the third round was delivered to a pharmacy in Michigan while I was on vacation there. They will deliver it, as far as I know, anywhere you ask. Having them deliver it to a pharmacy was easier because they sign (FedEx) and hold it for you. Anyways, I have 7 more days to go of 84! First viral load undetectable. Second check is 1/1/17 and undetectable would be a great way to start the new year. Best of luck with your treatment.
