Title: 6 month eot
Post by: brie41 on December 02, 2016, 07:15:30 pm
Hi All,

Well my 6 month eot test came back undetected.  I expected that result but it is so nice to see if for myself and know that the dragon is really dead!!  It has been quite the journey and I just want to say thanks again to all of you and wish you all only the best!  Take care.  Brie

Fantastic news, Brie! Congrats!

Actually - yeah .... I was just thinking we must have been going through at about the same time (Do you remember?) - and I suddenly realise that it's exactly six months for me too.
(They generally don't test at 6 months though, here in N.Z.).

It's great, isn't it, not having that horrible lurgy to deal with?

Hoping you are having a good day!

Lots of love,
A.

Hey Brie41 -- what a great end-of-year gift!!!!  So happy to hear your news.  I go in for my last test in Feb., but I slowly continue to feel better each month, and feel I am still UD. Doing a happy dance for you!!  FT

Brie41,
Great news. Sent chills up my spine. The medicine is finally working. We are starting to be cured... I just had my 1-year-after-treatment visit yesterday. I only heard one thing...Undetectable. I am slowing starting to believe it. I had a 6 month after treatment failure, and I know how devastated I felt. But I guess the pest is finally gone. It only took 10 years, 3 treatments, 2 denials to get here. It's worth it.
Hey, something to pass along. I had a young gastro intern explain a thing called MEND. It's some kind of scale to evaluate your liver function. The scale range is 4 to 40. A healthy liver is at 4. You get on the list for liver transplant at 30. He calculated mine based on the test results. Mine was 5. If your interested, talk to your Doctor. I am a patient of a teaching hospital. So I don't know if that makes a difference.

     Congratulations,   Live Well!

     Rick

Hi

I think he said MELD score

Here is a calculator to determine yours from the organ procurement and transplant network

https://optn.transplant.hrsa.gov/resources/allocation-calculators/meld-calculator/

MELD means Model For End-Stage Liver Disease basically it is used to stage patients for liver transplant priority on the transplant list. Your MELD must be higher than 12 or 15 depending on your transplant center to be on the list. Most patients are above 30 when they receive a transplant.

There is also another staging system called the Child Turcotte Pugh of simply Child score.

Thank you everyone!  I know I have finally accepted my new status because I now go weeks without even thinking about hcv.  It used to dominate my thoughts and it sure is nice to cross this off my worry list!

FT, I will be thinking good thoughts for you and I am more than sure that you will get excellent results in Feb!

I hope you are all enjoying your holidays and I wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year!!  Brie
