Title: confused
Post by: babybird on January 31, 2017, 07:13:42 pm
Hey ya'll! Just wanted to start off that I did not just find out I have hep c, it's coming up on 2 years now, but I was unsure where to post. Sorry if it's in the wrong place!
Anyways, today I missed a call from my gastro office, and by the time I could call them back, they were closed. I just had an appointment on the 25th, so I'm sure it was about my results. So, I go online to novant health ' s handy dandy online health chart, and look at the results there. BUT, that just left me more confused than ever.
I was diagnosed with genotype 3 around June 2015. August 2015 my test results shown- 3865 IU/ml and 3.59 log 10 IU/ml. From what my doctor told me, that is a low number. But now, it is at 55 IU/ml and 1.740 log 10 IU/ml. That seems to be down quite a bit. And I was under the assumption, that after a certain ammount of time the hep c turns chronic and it can not cure itself any longer. But seeing the numbers drop so much, I am just wishfully, blissfully hoping maybe it still can?
I don't know. This is why I'm here. Im guessing 55 is my viral load count? Is this viral load low? Can it still cure itself? Any body out there had a similar situation?

Good Afternoon Babybird,

i think after your chronic for 6 months your body can just not clear it. your viral load is very low but ive herd someone say before that the viral load can be crazy your body just manages it sometimes and it blooms others. i do not think your body will clear on its own as it has been 2 years. you are 3a so you cant take Harvoni so your in the same boat as i was. 3a took Epculsa 12 weeks. im undetected as of today just finished my treatment last week. i got approved with no questions asked so you could likely as-well. i was terrified it would get rejected and take months and months. but nothing of that sort. no side effects while on treatment aswell! so thats a great thing to look forward to. u can be treated. its been working wonders for many people.

Aaah, thanks. That's what I figured, which is unfortunate. But, next step is treatment. Appointment set for May, so hopefully the ball will be rolling on that then. Something to still be hopeful for.

As far as your viral load yes that is very low indeed just barely detectable so it seems your body is fighting a good fight but as Andrew said if you have hep c more than 6 months that is the definition of chronic.

For comparison about viral load mine was 2.4 million which is a fairly typical.

With such a low viral load you should have no difficulty achieving a cure.

Good luck
