Title: viekira pak, ribavirin, antibiotics, weakness
Post by: Mimi on May 17, 2017, 06:17:39 pm
hi, so im starting my fourth week of treatment. first two weeks i felt great, had my bloods taken and all good, no anemia. then got flu and tonsillitis and im on an antibiotic. for the last week i feel horrible, very very week. it feels like a chore to breathe even...i lie down during the day and it feels like i almost pass out in seconds and doze off. cant concentrate, forget stuff all the time. the weakness is really overwhelming. i feel exhausted walking from one room to another. could it be the added antibiotic that is making me feel worse? or could anemia set in so fast? 10 days ago my bloods were good. any tips? i am drinking loads of water

This is fairly typical for ribavirin. Although you may not be officially anemic, even a slight drop in hemoglobin is noticeable. As for the antibiotic, it may be contributing to how you are feeling, to say nothing of the infection, which can also contribute to this.

Water is a good idea. Not much you can do other than try not to be scared and to hang in there. B12 may help. It will get better about 4 to 8 weeks after you stop. If too terrible, then perhaps your doc can prescribe treatment without ribavirin.
