Title: How to save money on Viekira Pak
Post by: Ginabros on June 02, 2017, 01:30:28 pm
Hello everyone!

I am about to begin the Viekira Pak treatment. I have the express scripts prescription insurance. They approved the medication and are quoting my 12 weeks of  treatment around $9000. On the Abbvie VP website I saw that I can print a co-pay card out that says "may pay as little as $5 out-of- pocket". Sounds awesome,  if that's the case! Has anyone used it and it actually worked? Do you have any other suggestions as to how I can reduce $9000?
Thanks so much!
Gina

My prescription for Harvoni was also through Express Scripts through my employer although my copay was only $30 per bottle so would have been $180. However I used the Harvoni copay coupon and only paid $5 per bottle so my costs were $30 for my 6 month treatment.

My suggestion is to contact Abbvie and check it out

Patients with questions should call 1-844-865-8725.

*Eligibility: In Massachusetts, co-pay assistance is not available for products with certain generic equivalents (for example, any product with an AB-rated generic equivalent). Available to patients with commercial prescription insurance coverage for an FDA-approved AbbVie product for treatment of hepatitis C virus. Co-pay assistance program is not available to patients receiving prescription reimbursement under any federal, state or government-funded insurance programs (for example, Medicare (including Part D), Medicare Advantage, Medigap, Medicaid, TRICARE, Department of Defense or Veteran’s Affairs programs) or where prohibited by law.
If at any time a patient begins receiving prescription drug coverage under any such federal, state or government-funded healthcare program, the patient will no longer be able to use the AbbVie HCV Co-pay Card and the patient must call PSKW at 1-844-865-8725 to stop participation. Patients may not seek reimbursement for value received from the AbbVie HCV Co-pay Program from any third-party payers. Offer subject to change or discontinuance without notice. Restrictions, including monthly maximums, may apply. This is not health insurance.

Thanks Lynn!
I saw this small print too,  it is just hard to believe that such an expensive medication may cost me only $5. With all prescription medication cost rising over the years even for people with insurance it sounds surreal :)  My genetic Hep B med is costing me between $2000 - 5000 a year (depending of wthether i met the deductible or not) and I have not  a bad insurance.
Will see what my final VPAK bill says..
I am very glad your Harvoni prescription didn't cost you a fortune :)
