Title: Should I be worried about hepatitis?
Post by: Leosulla on September 22, 2017, 10:58:39 am
I am currently 19 years old and 2 years ago i had unprotected vaginal sex , only recently did i test for std such as syphillis and hiv which i thankfully tested negative for.

My question is should i be worried about hepatitis a/b and c?

I have been vaccinated for hepatitis b and a both, (3doses for b) and ( 2 doses for a), can i be certain that my immunity therefore for them is still there? and how long will it last for?

Hepatitis c? should i be worried about that one? I think i did a antibody test for hepatitis c which was thankfully negative, can i be certain of this since my exposure was 2 years ago?

Again if HCV was easily contracted through unprotected sex it would be an epidemic that would be completely out of control because many of the previous generations caught it through other means. Especially the baby boomers born prior to 1970. This was because it was an unknown disease and sanitation with needles, surgery,  blood transfusions, tatoos, dental work etc was not always adequate to deal with HCV. On top of this a great many of us messed around sharing needles using street drugs.

If you had been exposed and contracted either HIV or HBV then you would test positive for it. The risk of contracting HCV through unprotected sex is so low that HCV is NOT... REPEAT NOT CONSIDERED TO BE A COMMUNICABLE STD (http://www.clevelandclinicmeded.com/medicalpubs/hepc/faq/faqvol1.htm)
